Wood grain!

Thu Jun 12, 2008, 9:58 AM
Basic blurt for help here:

I have Corel Painter Essentials 3, and Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0. A few weeks/months ago I was dinking around with something and found a marvellous, wonderful, smashing way to simulate wood grain with some kinda texture or filter toy of some description. I got very excited, told two of my nearest and dearest before being interrupted and having to close things, and thinking "I know I'll need that, I know what I need it for, so please PLEASE let me remember this! I've told two people - surely that'll be enough!"

Nope. Of course it wasn't.

So can anyone tell me a way to make something look like it's yer actual basic board, basic wood, from a tree, with all that streaky goodness? I'm not talking posh veneers that you get from "peeling" the wood off a tree. I'm talking about something you made with an axe. Knots may be visible. Variety in size of streaks. You know?

Anyone? *sob*

I apologise that it is rather belated, but I would like to thank you for your favourite of my sketch of Granny Weatherwax, "The Lancre Witch". I have been away from DA for some time, hence my lack of reply until now.
